This sweet bunny rabbit tin features Victorian Easter illustrations on the sides and lid, and two hinged handles that make it resemble a lunch pail. It is eggplant purple, which highlights the bunnies and chicks in the pictures.
This tin was produced by Chein Industries in 1984. Chein Industries is a later division of J. Chein company. This is a throwback to the company's roots in the early days of the 20th century, with their two-handled lunchboxes or lunch pails. This is probably better suited for use as a cookie tin because of its small size.
Dimensions:
6 in. L x 5 in. W x 4 1/2 in. T; Raised handles add an extra 1 1/2 in. height above the lid (U.S.)
15 cm. L x 12.7 cm. W x 11.4 cm T; handles add 3.7 cm. Height (Metric)
Condition notes: The bottom of the tin has some corrosion, but it has not gone very far. The inside of the tin has some grayish abrasion on the surface of the metal, but it is not rusting. One handle was also bent in the middle (see the photos), but this does not seriously affect the overall appearance or functionality of the handles and the tin. Sold as is.
